Juan Carlos Ondo Angue

Juan Carlos Ondo Angue is the Founder and President of Nexos, a non-governmental organisation advocating for human rights, the rule of law and social justice in Equatorial Guinea.

Juan Carlos previously served as the President of the Supreme Court of Equatorial Guinea. During his time in this role, he focused on strenghtening the rule of law and advocated to ensure effective separation of powers and complete autonomy for the judiciary. He also spearheaded various initiatives around reinforcing legal certainty.

Firmly committed to the rule of law and social justice, Juan Carlos continued to advocate for democracy and human rights following his release from his role as President of the Supreme Court of Equatorial Guinea. Born in Equatorial Guinea, Juan Carlos wrote his Ph.D. at the Univerity of Grenoble on the fundamental right to a fair trial in Equatorial Guinea. He also holds several other graduate degrees, including a master’s degree in public law and a post-graduate degree (DEA) in public law from the Université Jean Monnet in France.  He is fluent in Spanish, French and English.
